Ten weeks after Article 50 was invoked, we are already seeing a general election (which the Tories are likely to win by a landslide), and a fateful dinner at No 10 Downing Street where the disagreements between the UK and the EU were made more apparent. When I thought there would be a general election this year, I thought it would be because the government had seen sense, and had realised the impossibility of Brexit. I was wrong. This election is because May wants a larger majority in the House of Commons and does not want to be distracted by managing her own party during the EU negotiations. Theresa May hates scrutiny.
